Saveful
If food waste were a country, it would be the third-largest greenhouse gas emitter, behind the USA and China.
With knowledge of how much effort, labour and natural resources are required to produce the food we eat, Kim was staggered to learn 70% of all food wasted in homes is still perfectly edible.
It is estimated that food waste costs the average family about $3000 per year spent on food that ends up discarded, or one in five shopping bags ending up in the bin.
Recognising the need for urgent and drastic action, Kim founded Saveful. A FREE app for all Australians, designed to make mealtimes less stressful and more sustainable by enabling families to cook more with what’s already in their kitchen.
Providing users a personalised experience, tailoring content specific to household needs and giving users access to flexible meal frameworks, helpful tools, tips and hacks and the ability to track their household food waste and money saved.
Saveful launched in November 2023 with the support of Governments, industry associations, corporate and brand partners. And with 80% of Aussie families feeling the pinch with the cost-of-living crisis, Saveful is a tangible and practical tool to help families put food on their tables and helping them to save money, save food and save time.
Recognising the enormity of the challenge and the necessity for collective effort to drive disruptive and impactful change, Kim has created an ecosystem of partners committed to being part of the solution, aiming to help Australia reduce food waste by 50% by 2030, aligning with the National Food Waste Strategy and UN SDG targets.
